Club History

WAVERLEY WOODWORKERS was formed in November 1990 by a former President, Hon. Life-Member, Richard Large with the following thought as its inspiration:

Everyone knows something - no one knows everything,
so everyone has something to tell, and something to learn
So let's get together and help each other enjoy one of the most fascinating and rewarding hobbies in the world

This club was established for all those who not only have an interest in continuing or beginning some aspect of woodworking as a hobby, but also wish to belong to a community of fellow enthusiasts.

If you are interested in any type of woodworking activity you are most welcome to visit our Clubrooms at the address above. Check the opening times under the Workshop section.

The duty committee member will show you our facilities and, if you wish to join, accept your application (you can get an application form from the How to join? section, otherwise the duty member will have one available at the club) and subscription.

We hold a meeting on a second Wednesday evening of each month when we have a guest speaker and demonstrator. Please feel free to come as a visitor to one of our meetings and see for yourself.

We accept members above the age of 18 (due to insurance policy compliance) and of either sex. There is currently a special interest group for woodturning (see Special Interest Groups - SIG section for more details) who meet on Monday evenings at 7:30pm.

Our Membership Fee is currently $75 per annum from July 2002 and prorata per month thereafter plus an initial joining fee of $10.
This entitles you to:

  • an identification badge,
  • use of all facilities for one year (subject to the rules of the club),
  • to a newsletter issued at the beginning of each month and
  • the use of any timber and manufactured board from the storage shed (which is occasionally donated to the club).
  • The monthly newsletter lists merchants who provide members with discounts on presentation of their card. A list of these sponsors is also available on the sponsors section of this website.
